detail of White, Blue, Red. by Ivo Zibulla, 2025.

This is a work about arriving without putting down roots, about the relativity of individual and national identities and an effort to find symbols to visualise collective trauma.

White, Blue, Red. is a three part site-specific installation of variable dimensions. The readymades are three conventional bags made of nylon canvas in the sizes S, L and XL, both turned inside out and hastily stuffed inside each other. Two acrylic paintings on canvas with floating framing complete the ensemble. One painting hangs on a wall, the second painting casually leans against the wall. Each painting shows a different enlarged section of the fabric of the plastic bags, thereby aesthetically exaggerating/enhancing the pattern.
